We take her on solo dog walks after the midday group. She's really happy to see us and walk around her neighborhood. That wasn't always the case though. She didn't like trucks, buses or any vehicles that made lots of noise. Now though, that's a thing of the past. Regular dog walks in the city gave her plenty of opportunities to work through her issues. Zumi and Frank love him though so it's an easy walk. Well, as easy as it is to walk a combined weight of 325lbs. These two are roommates and really laid back. When we first met them they weren't quite as easy to walk as they are now. Even Frank has begun sitting on our first request and that didn't used to happen for us. Walking a 200lbs dog when he isn't cooperating is a heck of a work out. Fun if you have the right head set for it, insanity otherwise. They started off doing short walks but have since become much more fit and now are up to one hour daily. Their energy levels are up to. I think all these dog walks are giving them some extra energy! I can also see that they are physically much fitter as well. They've lost some weight but I am not sure how much. I walk up to eight at a time. That didn't happen overnight. Lots of training for the dogs and even more for myself. This is about 600lbs of dog. I have a 200lbs English Mastiff, 100+lbs Bull Masitff, Boxer, Rhodesian Mix and Pit all being prefect pups for me. I love the looks I get when I have all these giant dogs going on our group dog walk. I had a guy ask me the other day, "What if they all turn on you?!" (Obviously not a dog person). I said, "What these guys? They are giant Teddy Bears!" And they are, truly big goof balls the whole bunch. They'd just as soon roll over for a belly rub as they would growl. Bacchus (on top) is one of Dash's oldest friends and one of our earliest clients. They are like brother, with other mothers. But they have gotten along since day one and haven't had so much as a single bad time together. This is them after a hike we took, totally wiped out from the walk. Bacchus is one of the few dogs that actually has made as close a bond as he has with Dash. Dash is really picky when it comes to who is in his inner circle so it speak volumes when he lets another dog be his friend. Dash is my gauge on other dogs temperament. He can tell right away what type of dog we will be dealing with. These dogs have all had their issues but we worked through them and now they have a tightly knit pack they get to socialize with and they truly love it. Some of these dogs walk anywhere from one to five days a week. We work on socialization (fairly obvious) and basic leash skills like, sit, stay, off, heel, release commands and manners. We walk the midday group for an hour, lately down at the Emeryville Marina. Here's a picture of the bay last week. Our group dog walks are a great way to implement leash training for our dogs. We work on heeling, sitting, staying, off and release commands. The four of us walks upwards of five dogs each and have been having great success. The change up from dog parks to leashed walks didn't take long at all. Our dogs figured out how to do most of these commands in the first week. We are finishing up week three now and all but a small number of dogs, mostly puppies are doing quite well. Our midday dog group is a ton of fun and with places as beautiful as the Emeryville Marina it's literally a walk in the park! Our dog walks are an hour long and depending on our dogs can range from 2-3miles per walk. We never walk faster then our slowest dogs. Both are taking in the sun and sea breeze as they look out upon the ocean. We took these two out for an adventure in the Marin Headlands. This dog walk took place at the Rodeo Cove located just on the tip of Marin right before the Golden Gate Bridge. Henry is prone to running off on his own so we used a forty foot horse lead to rein him back in if he ot to far away. I've never realized just how agile and fast these dogs are until I came across Dudley. I've been on group dog walks with Dudley before but hadn't had a chance to let him run off leash at the Joaquin Miller Dog Park with the rest of my group dogs. He probably weighs in at about 30lbs but it's all muscle. This little guys a fireplug and got more get up and go then most dogs. He usually gets the ball he's going for too, even if he's not the first to the ball. He has a way of plowing under the feet of the big guys and grabbing it from below! We've been walking for months and have been working various dogs into her day walk to get her used to walking around any dog without being grouchy. In her old age she tends to bluster a bit when meeting new dogs. I've managed to get 90% of it to go away. Now she can go on our midday group walks with as many as ten different dogs and she loves it! I mean it too, she loves going out with the other dogs on our group dog walks, dog park excursions or just riding around with her buddies in the dog truck. The more dogs the better for her, they just visibly lift her spirits. Dogs smile, and when she gets in my truck she grins from ear to ear for the entire time she's with me. She comes on our dog walks whenever the weekday works schedule gets a bit hectic. She's been with us for months and is always a perfect little lady. She avoids conflict at all cost. If a dog so much a curls a lip near her she's the first one to find her way aways from that dog. Her nose gets her a lot of attention. People always ask what her breed is and occasionally someone will yell out, "Is that a Bull Terrier?!" yes, it is! With a first name like Bull you'd think she might have a bullish nature but that couldn't be further from he truth. She's a cuddle bug mostly but is always down to wrestle if you got the energy for it. When she stays with us on overnights she just curls up right along side you and tucks in for the evening. Take Jackson, the long haired Golden Retriever, didn't know he would do a barrel role in the swamp mud, but now I do! Doesn't it look like he's asking me if he's got something on his face? Yes, Jackson a role in the mud face first does tend to leave a little something on your face...<div>I can't get mad at him. He looked to happy while he was doing it. Plus he has that classic good natured, easy going attitude I love so much in Golden Retrievers. Jackson is almost identical to a much older Golden that also comes on the midday group dog walk. When the two of them first met it was immediately like old friends had reunited. She comes with us once a week on our group dog walk. She's a lover for sure. She always likes to greet every dog in our group with a little polite lick/kiss on the corners of their mouths. No one ever rejects her either, I know I don't! She never acts up, and is always respectful of the others. A role model dog, she exudes poise and sweetness! Damiana and I split the dogs up for our walks and set off for an adventure. And trust me, when you have this many dogs on a walk there is always adventure! The two little dogs in the front of the pack didn't used to be social with other dogs but they've mostly gotten over that these days. Occasionally a pup will get a little overly excited and the little dogs will have to stand up for themselves but mostly it's just their way of telling the others to back up a little, I can respect that! Both where absolute troopers. I think they thoroughly enjoyed themselves though, judging by how soundly they slept for their ride home. Both are brand new to the daily group dog walks and are both champs as well. I was told that Manny didn't really likes other dogs but I just don't see it. Here she has one of her groups sit for a photo op, well most of them, the others are too busy trying not to focus on a cat across the street, I think. Damiana has her own way of interacting with her dogs, which I think is a great balance to my style. She excels with shy dogs, tiny dogs and puppies to name just a few. Sometimes a guy like me can frighten a dog who isn't used to a tall person with a deep voice so she can always help me with that. He's big on personality, small in stature. Dudley is my second English Bulldog that we have with us on our midday group dog walks although literally half the size of Jake the other Bulldog. Both are completely sweet and loving and would just as soon kick back with you for an evening as they would walk all day up in the Oakland Hills with me. I love watching him and the American Bull Dog walk along side one another, sniffing plants together and each of them having a good time with one another. </div><div>Giba is also very fashionable, I think he has more outfits then any other dog I walk. </div><div>When I pick up all my dogs for the midday walk Giba s the only dog I've ever let curl up along side me in the front seat. He seems to think its best there rather then anywhere else, and he's tried everywhere else so who am I to argue?</div><div>I've never myself been a small dog guy until I met a pug at a bar I bartend at some years back who showed me just how neat these little guys can be. Ever since then I always look forward to meeting new small dogs. Most small dog owners already know but small dogs are always the ones who think they're the biggest dog in the room. They carry themselves in a such a big manner, it's a real crack up. He just loves going to the dog park, trails pretty much anywhere he can get off leash and run! I consider my dog Dash to be quick but he can't get close to MJ. The boy is built for speed. He kinda reminds me of what a Shepard/ Whippet mix would look like. And did I mention gentle? He's such a soft touch kinda dog. well let me take that back. We're working on his greeting, he does like to jump up in excitement. I think it's a combination of his youth and energy level but he gets he shouldn't do it and is trying very hard to be good. He's happiest sunbathing with his house mates, two other dogs and two cats. He's a light weight coming in at about 35lbs (I imagine) but he is big on love. Ever day I come over he always stops me at the door - because he needs to say hello right away. I kneel at the door so he can put his front paws on my knee while I scratch his rump. Each and every time I visit Rota for our daily group dog walks I attach his leash, then fill his water bowl. Rota always collects the leash in his mouth and waits at the bottom of the stairs politely holding the leash for me. When I am done filling his bowl I ask him to bring me his leash, and he does. He brings it right to my hand too! He then waits as I open the door and invite him out where he waits again (impatiently) while I lock the door and he's forced to hear the calls of excited dogs in the truck below. Every bit the lady she has been quite an energetic young pup. Mostly when we met she just pulled real hard. Of course that's all in the past now, she'd much rather sniff bushes or anything else the group deems sniff worthy. Our group dog walks can be anything from a small group of three to as many as eight but she is happy at any number. All she really wants is to play and goof around, which I firmly believe is vital if you want to maintain a certain level of silliness in your dogs. Today's walk was a group of six, three of which are puppies so she had three times the opportunity to have some fun, which see did, three times. This is Rota and while I love all my dogs, in all my dog walks, this guy is just the rock in my group. See this smile, look closely, go ahead and stare. It's hypnotic if you stare long enough. He will hypnotize you into being happy, like him, twenty four hours a days, seven days a week. The guy is never in a bad mood, never so much as curls a lip at the puppies in our group when they chew on him or attempt to get him to wrestle. Just smiles, and goes about his business. He knows all his commands and loves to demonstrate then on first try. He's our natural Alpha but a very sweet, kind, patient Alpha. Him and his buddy MJ. Jordan's gotten up their in age and his health isn't what I imagine it was in his younger days but what he lacks in endurance and distance walking he more then makes up for in sweetness. We are working on getting him to walk 30+ minutes right now. He doesn't like venturing to far from the truck so we often do laps by the truck. I believe he only wants to travel a certain distance from the truck but forgets that once we are at the truck hes reached his goal so I just keep walking until he remembers and do the same thing all over. "Are you done walking Jordan?" I say, "lets turn around and go back." Last time I was able to do this about four times before he finally had enough. Once were done he likes to put his front paws up on the door of the truck and then waits patiently for a "boost" to get the rest of him in the truck. He always moans when I lift him as well. Now about 10 months old he prefers to run with the older dogs and try to do whatever they do. He goes on our dogs walk and can keep up with much bigger dogs. Lucy is another pup I walk, she's a little over 1 year old and just the sweetest thing in the world. She loves our walks. Whenever I come over she's waiting at the gate and as soon as I walk to her porch she runs around to meet me. Her training has moved really fast and I've been nothing but totally impressed with her transformation. No longer then classic Boxer pup energy, I mean it's still there, but at least it's manageable now. She's sitting, healing, understanding words and terms like 'off', 'leave it' and can even walk by barking packs of dogs with out so much as a whimper. Something just say royalty about this guy. We can't go anywhere without folks admiring him, which he never gets enough of! With his fancy collar and graceful, light stance you just feel classy when you are with him. Anyways, I took Liam out for a forty minute walk and then back and even after his walk he wasn't quite tired as is apparent in this video. Charley and I didn't meet with his best greeting. All barks and snarls but it was only a thin veil. Under it was this amazing dog, smart, fun loving, and totally up for anything you want to do. We hiked up hills on our dog walks, played fetch in the yard and even wrestled. He followed all his commands too! Sit, stay, come, off, drop, heel - not a problem for Charley! I'm guessing it's not toward birds judging by this experience. We where surrounded by geese, pigeon and various other birds and she couldn't care less. Stella is a rescue dog and the owner has done wonders for her. She is such a sweet heart and I couldn't be any happier walking her. I grew up with pit bulls so I am completely comfortable with them. Although when people see me (6'8" and 285lbs) with a pit bull on the leash they tend to give us more then enough room for our walks! Bacchus is in all regards a perfect gentlemen. He's always up for a hike, fetch, the beach and definitely for playing with other dogs on our walks. He rarely misbehaves and even still it's nothing anyone could fault him for. Dog walks can be exhausting if you have a dog or two that just won't run with the pack. Dogs like Bacchus are NOT those dogs. He's a team player and respects everyone he's with. This session lasted for about an hour followed with a dog walk for an additional hour. These two are incredibly fit and require a ton of exercise to tire them out. The Rottweiler weighs about 85lbs. while the Boxer mix is only 45lbs. but both jump around like puppies. Did I mention they are inseparable? If you watch closely you can see her paws kick the bag down further.
