I'm sure I've posted something about Rota before but this is a great picture with a great story. Each and every time I visit Rota for our daily group dog walks I attach his leash, then fill his water bowl. Rota always collects the leash in his mouth and waits at the bottom of the stairs politely holding the leash for me. When I am done filling his bowl I ask him to bring me his leash, and he does. He brings it right to my hand too! He then waits as I open the door and invite him out where he waits again (impatiently) while I lock the door and he's forced to hear the calls of excited dogs in the truck below. What a good boy.
Maddie's a relatively new dog I walk. She and I like to walk at a fairly quick pace. That is if she can keep from trying to sniff and eat things she finds along the way! Now that I'm savvy to her sneaky ways she hasn't had any opportunities to gobble trash. Nope, we're walking way to fast to find time to rummage the hedges! Here's a picture I took on one of our dog walks. She's getting ready for a big yawn, can you tell?

I volunteered to be Santa for the Maine Coon Adoption

As is obvious by the picture, I volunteered to be Santa for the Maine Coon Adoptions at, Paws on Piedmont in Oakland. I had more fun then I had imagined as well. What a good time it was meeting all these great cats, dogs and kids. Although the kids weren't planned, it was still fun. I mean you try and tell a kid walking down the street who saw "Santa" in the pet store that they weren't going to say, "Hi!" and see what happens. But the kids and pets were adorable. I didn't have any issues with the pets or the kids, in fact all of them usually made me crack up!

Ema and Jake Wrestling - Oakland Dog Walker

I was able to get a quick video of some of the goofiness that goes on with Jake and Ema on our walks today. Never mind those noises they make, they're loving every second and faking every single sound. Ema's always good for strange sounds for sure! It's moments like these on our dog walks that lift my spirits. I can be not feeling so well and when they break out in play I always smile and laugh. Thanks pups, you always lift my spirits! Watch Dash regulate the pups at the end. Always trying to help me, even if I don't ask for it.

This big gal here is, Donut. Every bit the lady she has been quite an energetic young pup. Mostly when we met she just pulled real hard. Of course that's all in the past now, she'd much rather sniff bushes or anything else the group deems sniff worthy. Our group dog walks can be anything from a small group of three to as many as eight but she is happy at any number. All she really wants is to play and goof around, which I firmly believe is vital if you want to maintain a certain level of silliness in your dogs. Today's walk was a group of six, three of which are puppies so she had three times the opportunity to have some fun, which see did, three times. Oddly, none of the other puppies turned down her gestures for play breaks...

I really, truly love this guy. This is Rota and while I love all my dogs, in all my dog walks, this guy is just the rock in my group. See this smile, look closely, go ahead and stare. It's hypnotic if you stare long enough. He will hypnotize you into being happy, like him, twenty four hours a days, seven days a week. The guy is never in a bad mood, never so much as curls a lip at the puppies in our group when they chew on him or attempt to get him to wrestle. Just smiles, and goes about his business. He knows all his commands and loves to demonstrate then on first try. He's our natural Alpha but a very sweet, kind, patient Alpha. A natural leader this guy!

This is Jordan, we recently began taking walks with one another. Him and his buddy MJ. Jordan's gotten up their in age and his health isn't what I imagine it was in his younger days but what he lacks in endurance and distance walking he more then makes up for in sweetness. We are working on getting him to walk 30+ minutes right now. He doesn't like venturing to far from the truck so we often do laps by the truck. I believe he only wants to travel a certain distance from the truck but forgets that once we are at the truck hes reached his goal so I just keep walking until he remembers and do the same thing all over. "Are you done walking Jordan?" I say, "lets turn around and go back." Last time I was able to do this about four times before he finally had enough. Once were done he likes to put his front paws up on the door of the truck and then waits patiently for a "boost" to get the rest of him in the truck. He always moans when I lift him as well. Not an aggravated moan more just one of those old timer moans from using his body more then he likes...I can relate.

Oakland Dog Walker - Donut and Athena Playing

I love walking dogs. Being a dog walker has its challenges on our dog walks but this is definitely not one of those moments. Watch as Donut the Bearded Collie and Athena the Lab/Pitt ham it up in the back of my truck. Remember Donut, the gal on the bottom picked this wrestling match and then promptly flopped over onto her back to give Athena plenty of opportunity to keep wrestling. The two of them will play with one another given any chance. Thats why I always like to stop for play breaks throughout our group dog walks. I mean, who stops fun when its this good?

Oakland Dog Walker - Jake lays down to drink his water

Jake proving his genius after our group dog walk up in the Montclair hills. Multitasking was never easier, just watch his video! People ask me why I love my job so much. These moments totally make my job great.

Oakland Dog Walker - Lucy Parkour 3

So Lucy loves to do Parkour. Here is a short video taking during our dog walk of her taking advantage of anything she can hop on top of. I was doing this dog walk in the Rockridge on Alcatraz.
